LIVING IN LAKE ARROWHEAD
Lake Arrowhead is a somewhat small town located in the state of California. With a population of 12,831 people and three constituent neighborhoods, Lake Arrowhead is the 384th largest community in California.
Housing costs in Lake Arrowhead are among some of the highest in the nation, although real estate prices here don’t compare to real estate prices in the most expensive communities in California.
Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Lake Arrowhead is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Lake Arrowhead is a town of service providers, sales and office workers, and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in Lake Arrowhead who work in sales jobs (12.81%), office and administrative support (9.80%), and food service (8.27%).
Telecommuters are a relatively large percentage of the workforce: 9.75% of people work from home. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce it is high relative to the nation. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes.
Another notable thing is that Lake Arrowhead is an extremely popular vacation destination. A significant portion of the population is seasonal. During the vacation season, the town experiences a large influx of people who take up residence in second homes they own in the area. As the vacation season ends, the population drops again, leaving behind a substantially quieter and smaller town.
